Following a successful Kickstarter late 2019, A MAZE. was set to return to Berlin for its ninth year in April. Due to COVID-19, the festival has been moved to be entirely digital, taking place next week between the 22nd and 25th of July.
A MAZE. aims to create an affordable, inclusive space within the games scene for creatives around the world to come together for a few days full of games, talks, and workshops. This year will be no different, just even more affordable with free attendance from the comfort of your own home, via A MAZE. Total Digital.
Part of the festival will be available as a downloadable experience, a digital space programmed by Moshe Linke, Gianluca Pandolfo and Stefan Insam. Within the aptly titled A MAZE. Space, participants are able to interact with A MAZE. 2020's selection of games, including the nominees, honorable mentions, and other "digital surprises." The festival will conduct its annual awards show on July 24th, moderated by Friedrich Liechtenstein.
Other festivities include a to be announced avenue for attendees to submit contributions to a community portion of the festival, nightly music celebrations, and opportunities to meet with publishers, funding institutions, and collaborators.
Attendees can read the full agenda and register for free today, with the ability to donate to the festival, as well as get paid tickets to certain talks.
